2005 Soares Book on Grounding and Bonding
International Association of Electrical
Inspectors (IAEI)
Seldom do design, engineering, installation and
enforcement perspectives come together in one book, especially on the
controversial topics of grounding and bonding. This, however, is
exactly what IAEI has achieved with this 9th edition of Soares
Book on Grounding and Bonding.
If you've ever gotten red tagged for grounding
or bonding situations, you'll be pleased to know that this book
authoritatively reviews each topic from the perspectives of the
enforcers. That's like having a free pass handed to you.
Among other requirements this book deals with
the grounding electrode--its new definition and the requirements, tied
to that definition, which emphasize functionality. It also explains
the new requirements of static protection through grounding and
bonding. Additionally, it points out the revisions to the grounding
requirements for separately derived systems and for information
technology and limited energy systems.
In accordance with IAEI's hallmark of
step-by-step explanations, the illustrations have greater detail and
there are more photos of actual installations.
Soares Book on Grounding and Bonding,
a long-time classic, is believed to be the most authoritative book on
this subject. This 9th edition has been meticulously updated to the
2005 National Electrical Code.
Why get your information piecemeal, when you can
see design, engineering, installation and enforcement perspectives
dovetail together in this one book? Soares Book on Grounding and
Bonding is the only book on the market that helps you see all
the perspectives before you do the job.
This book is dedicated to the memory of Eustace
C. Soares, P.E., one of the most renowned experts in the history of
the National Electrical Code in the area of grounding electrical
systems. A wonderful teacher and man of great vision, Eustace foresaw
the need for better definitions to clear up to the great mystery of
grounding of electrical systems. Eustace
Soares’ book, Grounding Electrical Distribution Systems for Safety was
originally published in 1966 and was based upon the 1965 edition of
the National Electrical Code. Over the years, this book has become a
classic.
A great majority of the recommendations
contained in the original edition of his book have been accepted as
part of Article 250 of the National Electrical Code. The
grounding philosophies represented in the original edition are just as
relevant today as they were then. To say that Eustace contributed more
than any other man to solving some of the mysteries of grounding of
electrical systems would not be an overstatement of fact. Previous
editions have been extensively revised both in format and in
information. An effort has been made to bring this work into harmony
with the 2005 edition of the National Electrical Code and retain the
integrity of the technical information for which this work has been
well known, at the same time adding additional information which may
be more recent on the subject of grounding and bonding.
